Etisalat, now e&, and du are the two operators. Coverage is excellent in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with 5G across practically the whole urban area.

There is coverage along the desert roads too, and the usual excursion spots have a signal. It thins only well out into the Rub al Khali.

How much data do you need?

5 GB covers a week of maps, messaging and bookings. Hotels consistently have good wifi, which brings the requirement down.

For a longer stay or remote work, 10 to 20 GB is the more sensible level.

Practicalities on arrival

Activate the line at the airport and turn data off on your Swedish subscription.
