Networks and coverage

Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi share the market. Maroc Telecom has the widest coverage outside the cities, and 4G works well in Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez and along the Atlantic coast.

In the High Atlas and on the road towards the Sahara it thins out fast. Desert camps at Merzouga and Erg Chigaga rarely have a signal, and in the valleys between mountain passes it disappears entirely.

How much data do you need?

5 GB covers an ordinary one to two week trip of maps, messaging and bookings.

Driving yourself with daily navigation, or uploading a lot of photos and video, makes 10 GB more comfortable.

Practicalities on arrival

Activate the line after landing and turn data off on your Swedish subscription.

Download maps and confirm desert tours before leaving the city. There is no connection in the Sahara, and that is the worst place to discover a booking did not go through.
